The latest version of Recaptcha has just been released by Google – Recaptcha v3. Now the chances of you having to prove that you are not a robot are even smaller. Recaptcha update proves to be smarter against spambots.
We have all experienced the Recaptcha button where an online form shows up. The idea behind the development of Recaptcha button by Google is to prevent spam. As a precautionary measure to prevent flooding of spam bots, Recaptcha asks you after completion if you are a robot. This happens when the algorithm detects you have opened a particular page several times, this will lead to you being asked to perform a small test.
Earlier Google used a complicated vocabulary, now it asks for stop signs or billboards. Though in some case simply clicking a checkmark is enough. With the introduction of Recaptcha v3 available for site builders, this will change as you will ever have to prove yourself.
The Recaptcha v3 allows an improved spam detection. Various algorithms are implemented by Google in the background which determines whether you are a spambot or not. Site creators can tell Google which pages are often visited by bots and therefore need protection. This helps in automatically give a risk score to all users and pages. Eventually, the developers can indicate which score users must have as a minimum to send a message. The old test is not completely scrapped as if your score is low you still will have to go through the old tests.
As a result of the new Recaptcha v3 version it means now ‘I’m not a robot’ button will no longer be necessary for many users. Site builders will also be happy as it will assure them of less frustrated users as well as less spam. The latest Recaptcha v3 is available for all developers and can soon be applied to their sites.
