Now users of WhatsApp will get granular control to clean up the phone’s storage, this new feature will be available on the latest update for Android users. WhatsApp Beta Update will offer users Storage Management section into the settings menu. This will allow users to mass delete specific type of messages like(text, audio, video and more) from conversation while saving other stuff.
iOS users already have this feature on their devices since the January release of updates for iOS. Android users will finally get the same feature with the latest WhatsApp Beta Update. Previously the storage usage screen would only let users see WhatsApp groups or chats that users most of the space. Whereas to clear the storage you would have to open the specific chat to clear the contents.
You can find the granular control on your phones by tapping on the Setting>Data>Storage where you will find a list of conversations, ranked according to the storage usage taken on the phone. On selecting a particular conversation the consumed storage will break down in different tiles of texts, images, GIFs, videos, audio, documents, locations, contacts. You can select a single or multiple type of content you wish to delete enabling you to clear data easily.
Currently it will be available in the Beta version though we can expect it to be rolled out globally in the upcoming updates
