Reliance Jio has literally disrupted the telco market with various killer offers for users. The result to this aggressive move was that many other telcos like Vodafone, Airtel lost customers and it has been a huge task for them to retain their customer base for feature smartphones as well. New partnerships are being formed with handset makers so as to make smartphones affordable and within reach of a large section of society.
Recently Airtel collaborated with Karbonn and introduced a smartphone priced at Rs 1399/- and now following the footsteps Vodafone has also entered a partnership with Micromax, and is all set to offer a 4G smartphone for price of Rs 999/-.
The latest Vodafone offer will allow existing and new customers to buy the Micromax Bharat-2 Ultra smartphone @ Rs 2.899/- and if they recharge minimum Rs 150 /- per month for 36 months they will get a refund of Rs 1,900/- as cashback.
The users opting to buy this phone will get a cashback of Rs 900/- after 18 months, whereas the remaining Rs 1000/- will be returned in another 18 months, in their Vodafone M-Pesa wallets. Vodafone has not introduced any plan related to this offer and people buying the device can recharge with existing Vodafone offers.
Since Vodafone is targeting budget smartphone users it will allow users to recharge with amounts starting from Rs10/-. Though Vodafone has allowed users to choose recharge of denomination, users will have to recharge at least Rs 150/- per month or Rs 2,700 in 18 months.
Speaking about the latest offer Avneesh Khosla, associate director – Consumer Business, Vodafone India, said, “Through our partnership with Micromax, we have democratised 4G smartphones at a price of under Rs 999. This will help fulfill the aspirations of several million phone users across the country who desire a smartphone but couldn’t afford one.”
