Earlier in May Instagram had released a prototype Music in Stories feature which is being released for iOS and Android users in 6 countries along with the US. Music seems to bring life to the boring photos or videos, now you can hear songs by artists like Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and Guns, and Roses. Thanks to the recent Facebook deals with record labels. Instagram is working on bringing this feature globally.
Its just been a week since the Instagram stories with music feature is know and already the app has 1 billion monthly users. There is no doubt the launch is going to Instagram stories more fun to post and watch and will give Snapchat a tuff time because of copyrights. Figures revealed that Instagram Stories has 400 million daily users, up from 300 million in November and 250 million a year ago. That means Instagram Stories is growing about six times faster than Snapchat.
Instagram in a blog post said – “Now you can add a soundtrack to your story that fits any moment and helps you express how you’re feeling. ” It further mentioned to access the new music feature, users can choose a special song sticker after they shoot a photo or video. They will be able to browse for a particular song or artist or browse according to the mood, genre or on the basis of the popularity of the song. They can also select a specific extract of the song they want and attached to their content.
iOS users, on the other hand, can use the Music shutter mode in the Stories camera, pick a song before they shoot a photo or video, which allows them to sync their actions to the music. This feature is currently not available on Android but eventually, it will.
The Music in Stories features released today will be available in Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden, the UK and the U.S.
Users will be able to watch the music story as the song post automatically. Likewise, they will also be able to tap on the sticker to see the artist and title of the song, though as of now these stickers won’t link you with the artists Instagram page or their presence on other streaming services.
There is a huge choice of songs made available to the users but still, it remains to be seen if the users have what they want to hear. There is a possibility Music in Stories might provide a huge platform for artists to go viral.
