Sources suggest Google is working upon an app subscription service for Google Play called Play Pass. Subscription service seems to the road ahead for all consuming content, Tv shows, movies or games. Netflix, Prime Videos, Hotstar or Xbox for games we are all using some of these paid services. Now your favorite smartphone apps which we have been using for free might soon need a subscription. Though it is not yet official, XDA Developers in a Play Store APK teardown found traces of the same in June this year.
Google Opinion Rewards programme, on the other hand, conducted a survey asking users if they would like a subscription service offering “hundreds of dollars’ worth of paid apps and games for a monthly fee.
In this survey though there was no mention of the app store, it is more likely that Google is trying to gauge the response of people towards a service like this.
There is no official statement made by Google about the paid service.
Another service which gives users access to a paid library of games on their Android device is Hatch Entertainment. They charge users a monthly fee for streaming games on their Android devices, which allows them to play games by connecting to the internet. It is similar to Netflix, where the service will keep updating its library of games regularly to keep the experience fresh.
