Google today announced at the Google Next conference in San Francisco it will soon enhance Google meeting hardware to allow voice commands. You will find the latest development helpful as at times setting up meetings can be a major problem and painful at the time.
Google Assistance uses voice-enabled artificial intelligence, which Google wants to bring to the meeting hardware. During today’s meet, the company introduced Voice Commands for Meet.
The Voice Command for Meet will now allow you to say “Hey Google Start The Meeting” and you are rolling. But this is just the beginning as Google will be introducing additional commands over a period of time. All the added features will be introduced later this year.
Ever since Google has launched the Hangout Meet hardware program last year, it has been used by many users to launch meetings using Google or other hardware like Cisco or Polycom. Google in a report disclosed that customers have installed thousands of these Hangouts Meet-enabled meeting rooms.
The introduction of voice command will make several tasks easier like invite participants, join a meeting, etc. The voice-enabled commands will certainly simplify some of the complicated tasks of meeting administration. Administrating a meeting is not an easy task as even after years of experience users can find it complicated and frustrating at times.
With devices like Google Home and the Amazon Echo people are certainly getting familiar with voice command enabled devices and how the devices react to the voices.
Google is not the lone player in this space even other competitors like Cisco are working on trying to bring voice-enabled hardware into the meeting room. Last year in November Cisco announced the Cisco Spark Assistant specially designed to bring voice capabilities to Cisco meeting hardware. It is learned that the technology involved in the Cisco hardware comes from Mindmed, an AI startup which Cisco acquired in May 2017 for $125 million.
