Respectable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speaking to Internet media macrumors.com suggested the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will launch at the same time. A previous rumor had suggested that iPhone 8 might not ship until late 2017. There seems to be a more likely possibility Apple will release the iPhone 8 in September.
Ming-Chi Kuo had earlier said Apple will begin production verification tests on the iPhone8 in late August. These test will be followed by mass production in mid-September. Apple will boost its production in order to build 45- 50 million iPhone8 units this year.
Kuo goes on to say further that all three 2017 variants will be available in three colors black, silver, and gold. Which differs from the earlier rumors which suggest iPhone 8 will not come in the rose gold variant. These iPhones will support fast charging, though consumers will need to purchase a Type-C power adapter separately to enable faster charging.
The OLED version will be in short supply as we forecast shipments in 3Q17 will be 2-4mn units or less. We do not think production of the OLED iPhone will pick up substantially before 4Q17; and given strong demand, tight supply may persist until 1Q18 before improving much.
Yesterday reports and pictures of iPhone 8 case went viral over the internet offering a clear look at the design of the phone from the front without a home button.
