Android 9 Pie is official, and you can download the final build right now, although it’s not available to everyone. We have been using the Android P Beta on compatible handsets, before the release of the official version as a preview of Google’s next major operating system upgrade.
With the recent release, Android 9 Pie will be available only for Google Pixel and Essential Phone. Though have received the full version of Android 9 Pie but still features like App Slices will be released later this year.
Google in its update stated –
Update: We’ve added The Essential Phone to the Android Pie update directions. We’ll continue to list Android Pie-compatible phones (and any differing instructions, as they get announced.
The other devices running on Android P beta will get the Android 9 pie updates by the end of this year.
How to download Android 9 Pie
- The current Android 9 Pie is available for update on the following handsets Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Apart from these phones, it is already there on the Essential Phone.
- For updating your devices to Android 9 Pie you will need to go to Settings > System > System Update and check if is there on your handsets, the latest Android OS arrives as an over-the-air update for your handset. You may also get a notification alert on your handsets regarding Android 9 Pie update for your phone.
Simply Tap download and install. Before you start your update ensure the phone battery is well charged, as it won’t proceed with the download if it is low.
