PlayStation 2 has been a popular gaming console, known to be rugged and long-lasting. Many developers have been making games based on it even as it seemed to faze out its popularity. Though Sony has just stopped producing the PlayStation 2 gaming console 5 years back, after a successful run of 13 years since its launch. Finally, Sony has decided to kill PlayStation 2 for real.
Kotaku a gaming website reported Sony Japan will discontinue after sales service for PlayStation2 from Friday. The company clearly stated that all consoles which will arrive at the PlayStation Clinic in Iwate Prefecture for repairs, after this date will not be serviced.
All of the gaming community owning PS2 have one final chance to get their machines fixed by registering themselves online by August 31 and this the same date set to end customer support for all busted consoles.
Sony has done an excellent job, as PlayStation 2 has been out of production for so many years and yet the company has managed to provide support for such a long time. In fact, the company could have discontinued support long time back and it would have been legit.
IT Media, a Japanese tech publication stated that users who fail to register their consoles online have a cut-off date of August 31 to send in their machines.
So all you die-hard PlayStation 2 fans, we know its a bit sad but could be your best chance to fix your busted PlayStation 2 for one last time.
