Epic Games Store New Competitor For Google Play
In a tweet, Epic Games has announced it will be setting up an Android Game Store similar to Google Play. Though there is no specific date declared when it will happen. The Epic Games Store will only be hosting Mac and PC games initially. Later this will be extended to games for your Android smartphone and tablet.
Still, there is no clarification which games will be specifically available on their store. Tim Sweeney has however said in a conversation with the net media that the collection will be all-encompassing. Which simply means that it will have multiple choices of games from popular expensive titles as well as game titles from small developers.
The store will officially be called as Epic Games Store will compete against Steam on the PC front. Valve is a popular platform developed for PC gaming and is highly rated amongst PC gamers and is considered a standard when it comes to gaming. Epic is planning to take on Stem and dislodge their leadership position by spending more money on developers.
Epic Games Store Will Be Better For Developer
With the arrival of the Epic Games Store, it brings benefits to developers. Epic will be offering developers 88 percent share from the proceeds which is higher than the 65 to 70 percent being offered by by Valve store. Also, developers who fail to generate less than ten million dollar end up paying 30 percent on the platform of Steam.
Being new to this arena Epic store will also have to become popular than its competitor Valve, for this it will have to work with streamers. Streamers can earn money by having their viewers pay with in game currency. This results in streamers advertising the Epic games without the company paying for it.
Epic Games Store 2 Edition
Sweeney has also expressed his plans to release iOS games on its own online store in the future. Though the possibility of this is scarce as Apple prefers to be an authoritarian when it comes to keeping control over which apps and games users can install.
He further said – “The platform comes out almost everywhere in the world, with the exception of China and countries that are banned under US law, such as North Korea.”
