What to expect this year at IFA 2018?
Samsung has in the past launched its new Galaxy Note model at the IFA. This year though the Korean tech giant will launch the phablet at an event in New York. Samsung is expected to make an announcement of a new wearable called the Galaxy Watch which runs on Samsung’s very own Tizen. Though there are rumors it might get the Google Wear OS version.
There is also a possibility of Samsung announcing a new tablet which is often mentioned in several leaks. Last but not the least the company might launch its first Bixby-powered smart speaker, named Magbee. Fans will also get to see and try the new Galaxy Note 9.
In the earlier version of IFA, LG launched the V30. It seems obvious it will make use of this platform to introduce a phone in the line, the V40.
In May though Lg has launched the V35 ThinQ, so it is quite possible LG might not launch another device in the V series so early. Though according to rumors it appears it will host the V40 in another event. But it seems unlikely that LG will be at the IFA with any product to showcase, we think they might launch a new speaker or a bunch of new appliances from the ThinQ line.
Earlier this year Motorola launched the Moto Z3 Play and at the IFA it may launch another budget smartphone. Rumors have been around in May the company was working on its first phone with a notch called Motorola One and One Power.
We even spotted Motorola One Power while going through TENAA, which is China’s FCC equivalent. This suggests that the device is close to getting released. With the IFA around the corner and the developments with the Motorola One and Motorola One Power, there seems to be every likelihood of its release at IFA.
The leaks reveal that the Motorola One Power will be powered by a Snapdragon 636, up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. A dual camera setup included in the bundle and a 3780 battery. It will be the second phone from Motorola as a part of the Android One program.
That not all there is also a possibility the Moto C2 is released at the IFA 2018. This is a low-end phone which has recently passed FCC and was certified by Brazil’s ANATEL as well.
The phone has minimal specs which include 1GB RAM and 16 GB of storage. It will be part of the Android Go family. Another phone Motorola is yet to unveil is the Moto Z3. We think though Motorola will launch this phone at an event in Chicago on August 2.
Sony has been facing a stiff competition in the smartphone segment. Business has not been good last few years, yet Sony would want to prove its point at this years IFA 2018. The Japanese company will showcase the Xperia XZ3 at Berlin.
Renders of the phone online suggest the phone will probably come with a single camera at the back similar to the Xperia XZ2 Premium.
Recently Sony has announced the powerful 48-megapixel sensor for a smartphone. There is a possibility it will be included in the Xperia XZ3.
Apart from this phone would come with a 5.7-inch display with 2,160 x 1080 resolution and a Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 12-megapixel single shooter on the front.

There have been rumors related to the Mate 20 but nothing official has been revealed. It seems the phone will come with a 6.9-inch OLED screen, an ultrasonic scanner might also be part of the package, as well as a Kirin 980 processor.
Earlier HMD launched the Nokia 6X and Nokia 5X in China, these will be launched globally as Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus. We expect Nokia to launch these phones at IFA 2018. Both the smartphones are mid-range phones which come with a notch design.
