Soon you may be able to tag your friends in Instagrams video posts, as Instagram is working on this latest Video Tagging feature. This feature will allow you to tag your friends in Instagram video posts similar to tagging your photos. In the case of photo sharing you get a small icon at the bottom left, on pressing it you will see the list of tagged names over the top of the content, as this might not be feasible with the videos, the button links to a list of tagged people.
Once you tap this button, you will be redirected to a new page “People in this Video” where all Instagram users will be listed, who have either appeared in the video, or who the original poster wants to alert in some way. The video tagging feature is mobile based and not yet available for desktop users. Not much information is shared about the feature yet and is available only for selected users who have opted in for the test by the company.
In a statement released by Instagram spokesperson said- “We’re always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love”
Instagram has been offering photo tagging since 2013 and later introduced features like tagging products and friends in stories. The video tagging feature is pretty new and Instagram has yet to decide on a way for users to properly tag their friends.
Instagram with its latest products like IGTV which connect to a larger groups via video chat sessions, is a critical aspect of Instagram platform these days. Hence it needs to take care of how to enable better video discovery through its user interface, direct people to its newest product,
The possibilities are endless the new feature could help shoot shoppable videos, not just photos, and allow Instagram influencers to post videos of their favorite products and places.
